A.B(C)D…
A.B = the major release i.e. 12.3 or 12.4
(C) = the maintenance version, higher number means more bug fixes, any bug fix from a previous version is included in the next version
D = if present means it’s not a major release but an extension of one. Usually provide new features and hardware support.
